* The most common issues with plotter templates *

  • Parts of the template have the wrong size

Cricut Design Space sometimes resizes the pattern (or its single parts) for no reason and even without any error message. This is not a template error, but a common DS bug widely described on Reddit and other sites:
 
Most of my templates include a pdf file with exact pattern dimensions - if you haven't found it in your Etsy download, please send me a message.
 
If you would like to solve the problem yourself, try this method:
 

  • Image load failure / Image too large

It may happen that when opening an svg file, Cricut Design Space shows the error message Image load failure / Image too large. Many people complain about this problem -  sometimes even the files that previously worked properly stop opening.
 
You can try to solve the problem by dividing the template into smaller parts:
 

  • Some lines in the project are missing

It can happen the template parts seem to be incomplete. For example, front cover of the greeting card is a rectangle without pattern or text, or only part of it is displayed. It's because Cricut Design Space sometimes fills the shapes with solid colour and it covers the outlines underneath or merges with them. In such case select the part and set no fill. All missing lines should appear.

WHERE’S MY SVG FILE?  

The download always contains zipped files: svg, pdf and studio3. However, sometimes it happens that SVG is recognized by Windows system as „HTML document”. It doesn't mean the file has been changed or will work any differently. You can  use the file as you normally use SVG files. Just try to open it with your plotter software.

THE ITEM DOESN’T COME OUT AS IN THE PHOTOS

The result strongly depends on your material, blade sharpness, plotter settings and many other factors. If something goes wrong, send me a photo. I have encountered many different problems when working with a cutting machine, so I will probably be able to solve yours.

Cricut Design Space - templates parts huge / tiny

Sometimes after loading SVG file into Crucit Desin Space some parts of the template are disproportionately huge or tiny and they don't match each other. The best way to fix the problem is just to set the right size manually. But how do you know what the correct dimensions are? Install Inkscape - it's a free graphic software for creating and editing svg files, download available here . And I assure you'll need it more often if you use Cricut. It allows to solve many problems with templates. Open your SVG file in Inkscape. From the drop-down list select the units you are going to use. Select the part - and now you can see its width (W:) and height (H:)  Load the same file into Cricut Design Space and c ompare the dimensions. If they differ, just change them for the same as displayed in Inkscape.

Apply glue on the edges of the bottom layer and in spots between the motives as shown on the photo below.   Place the bottom layer exactly in the middle (it’s a little smaller than the bracelet base), press and let the glue dry.
